Dumbfounded by Mr. Brave Davis in The Bahamas

by Rick Lowe (http:/www.weblogbahamas.com)

Sometime back I watched Mr. Davis, MP for Cat Island make his contribution to Parliament on a Bill before the House. He was excellent. No hyperbole and lots of reasoned arguments.

Now we fast forward to June 2009 and according to press reports he tells Parliament that the Government needs to write off the millions or hundreds of millions that people owe in Property Tax.

I'm all for stopping taxation, but if you owe something under the law, it should be paid.

Come on Mr. Davis. Unless you are going to refund all those tax payers that have dutifully paid, you're really barking up the wrong tree on this one.

Maybe there is something in the air once you decide to run for leadership in a political party, but if your house is big enough to attract property tax, unless you are unemployed or really down on your luck, you can't possibly be under privileged or that illusive "small man"?

I'm dumbfounded on this one Mr. Davis.

What am I missing?

Rick, you’re missing the free ride that everyone seems to either want, already enjoy, or want to perpetrate in the name of the great providers at others expense, PLP or FNM.
These politicians are collectively so clueless.
When I see one of them touting the methods they will use to “cure” the ills, instead of stating their supposed objectives, or promises, I may start paying attention to them.
    Other than that, S.S.D.D.

Is there a single politician in the Bahamas that actually cares about our country ?I can’t find one. I am so sick & tired of the BS talk. Show me, don’t say another word, show me, until then, shut up & get it done. Stat with providing a justice system, without which, we are doomed.
