Dr. Myles Munroe. Religion and Politics in The Bahamas?

by Rick Lowe

Dr. Myles Munroe was recently quoted in the press lamenting the dearth in political leadership in the country and he allegedly intimated that he might consider entering politics.

An accomplished author and preacher, Dr. Munroe is an excellent public speaker that can motivate people.

But politics?

Not to deny him that right should he so choose, but other than the use of psychology to keep their political or religious troops in check, it seems there should be a wide ethical chasm between politics and religion.

Mind you, other local preachers have attempted to make an impact in politics without much success. Rev. Neil Ellis gets involved with outlandish statements from time to time and Rev C.B. Moss got directly involved as a prospective candidate. So maybe Dr. Munroe thinks he can jump in and succeed where they have failed?

Tertullian, the ancient Christian Latin writer said, "Nothing is more foreign to us Christians than politics."

Can Dr. Munroe parlay his skills in the pulpit and obvious success with his church, Bahamas Faith Ministries, into votes and a seat in the "Honourable" House of Assembly?

Maybe we will find out in the not too distant future.

Even though I'm not a Christian, somehow I think a "Man of the Cloth" should avoid the lions den of politics. Both politics and religion are important to society but I think they are better suited at keeping each other in check.

Similarities though, Tithes and taxes, one with devine right, the other the right of the state.
And the Need of leaders from both ilks to have the flocks follow blindly.
THe politicals have abandoned the rule of law in favour of personal rule edict, perhaps they will be unseated by those who purport to speak for the devine?
In any case, the pulpit is creating great business wealth for some, maybe they will understand the need for economic viability and potential.
    For the people, of course.

am the author of the book ” it is time we truly know why Jesus wept ” at the grave of Lazarus” by N.k.David . I think in this generation of greater freedom we can do more to create a more peaceful world

Peaceful world ? I would be happy for a peaceful Bahamas !With all the “Bishops” & “Revs” here, one would have thought that would be no problem.

  4. Myles Munroe is an absolute failure as far as being a leader is concerned. He is recognized for being what he is not. He is corrupt & very insecure.
The members at BFM are of the same ilk. It is a stressful place to work because of the constant lying & backstabbing that goes on their. If you get behind the scenes the immorality displayed by leadership & respected members will convince you that God is not a part of this organization.
