What’s with the Tribune? The Bahamas leading newspaper and filler stories.

by Sidney Sweeting, DDS

Two articles in the Tribune recently, one last week and the other this morning (November 26th) has made me wonder if the Tribune is now placing nonsense articles just in an effort to fill space. One would think that there is enough significant news that this should not be necessary.

Is there anyone in the Bahamas who has an IQ high enough that they are allowed to walk around unaccompanied by someone responsible who can possibly care if Larry Birkenhead would like for his child to have a baby sister and would want this story to have a headline in a prominent section of the Tribune?

Then there was the story, again prominent, quoting Fred Mitchell when he said that the PLP supporters can compare their feelings at the loss of their party in the last election to how the disciples felt when Christ was crucified. Most of us have long dismissed the rantings of Mr. Mitchell and find them very tiresome so why does the Tribune feel that his statements and rantings should concern anyone except him?

Let us all hope that the Tribune will cease this nonsense and continue instead to be the responsible journal it has been for so long.

I think it is much to late for the Tribune to ever become a responsible journal under its present team. It has become nothing more than another gossip sheet, its status is very similar to that of the Punch.

Perhaps they infill with irrelevent content because no one is saying anything intelligent?(or believable)
Any one notice how silent our leadership has become?
Mind you, they are clueless at the best of times, so how can we expect anything different now?
Sad really because so many hang on their words, having been robbed of the capacity to think for themselves.
So, we wait for them to realize that they do not alone possess the answer, and that the challenge is to awaken innovation, initiative, vision and action, and hope that these qualities have not been destroyed completely.
Methinks they will avoid the problem, and continue to strangle and suffocate those who still strive to succeed.
Those who still think, and do not look to politicos for answers they do not possess.

I have always preferred the Tribune to the other papers, but I am sick & tired of the sensationalizing of every thing & only telling one side of the story.Whats with all the left wing crap on the editorial page ? Come on now Tribune, lets hear the other side, please !It seems as though you are in the tank for the Democrats. If this was another paper doing that, the Tribune would be the first to complain about it.

I don’t know Doc. I was losing a lot of sleep over that – hoping Dannie Lynn wouldn’t grow up alone. So, I was relieved to find such important news in the daily paper.
