The Shorter Version of Barack Obama’s Convention Speech

Jesse Walker at Reason posted this brilliant summary of Obama’s recent convention speech.

Now the question is, how many free lunches will John McCain promise?

One thing about politicians is, and it doesn’t matter which country we talk about, every silly season they are going to fix the same problems they were going to fix the the last election.

And for some reason they’re proud enough to tell us that those same problems have worsened, and we are expected to believe they can fix them, even though they were exacerbated under their watch.

But this election it will be different. Right?

It has been interesting to see the number of bumper stickers here in Nassau “Vote for Obama” and I did not even know that Bahamians could vote in the US election!
It has also been interesting, and sad, to hear so many people say that Obama should be President because he is African-American. Of course an equal number of people were saying that Hillary Clinton should be President because it is time for a woman to lead the country,
If I were to say, if entitled to a vote, that I would give it to McCain because he picked an attractive woman for VP would that be any more ridiculous?
Never mind that Obama is a Democrat and is promising to make Government so big that they can fix everything for everyone.
The Democrats are not just flirting with socialism they are threatening to embrace it.

Amen, Sidney! Hardly a day has gone by in recent weeks that I haven’t had this very conversation.
