It surprises me when I flip through my CD or record collection to see how many ‘folk’ artists are there. I’ve always thought of myself as a rock/blues music fan. Pink Floyd and Van Morrison for example are two of my all time favourite groups and individual performers respectively.
But back the subject at hand.
This weeks feature is Todd Snider, a folk musician with rock, blues and bluegrass influences. His Happy to be here CD, released in 2000, contains some really neat stuff, but none of the songs are more poignant that Betty Was Black and Willie Was White.
I particularly like the lines:
“And speak of a day when everything’s all right.”
“And be proud to be black and be proud to be white.”
Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Of course you should also visit his web site ToddSnider.net and you know the rest. Buy a couple of his CD’s, you won’t regret it.
