Rumour: Woodside wins Pinewood Recount by 49 votes over Gibson

There is a pervasive and persistent rumour that Mr. Byron Woodside has won the Pinewood election recount over Mrs. Allyson Maynard Gibson by 49 votes.

After the Election Court Justices threw out 110 votes, the recount has apparently reconfirmed Woodside and the Free National Movement (FNM) as the winner of the May 2007 poll.

If true, this leaves the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) in a precarious position as it relates to continuing to contest the two additional seats they have before the Courts. If they should win these two protests it would not leave them any closer to taking the seat of power, particularly after losing Mr. Kenyatta Gibson and the lingering doubts that Mr. Malcolm Adderley will continue to support them.

However, if this is no more than a rumour I’ll confirm as quickly as possible.

Far be it for me to advise the Official Opposition, but it might be time to settle down and focus on helping make The Bahamas the best little nation in the world and collect themselves and their resources for the 2012 election poll.

Addendum: The rumour was confirmed at 11:03pm. Congratulations Mr. Woodside.
