PLP’s new style of governance imploding? Or The PLP train has come off the tracks.

by Rick Lowe

The present government seems to be wading in a cesspool of controversy. As each day passes, the drumbeat of allegations of corruption and unethical behaviour by some of our so-called Honourable Members of Parliament gets louder.

Well Prime Minister Christie did say that he would bring a new style of governance, but who would have envisioned this!

What is even more disconcerting is the alleged behaviour is being brushed aside with suggestions that nothing happened to FNM members when allegations were brought against them so why should anything come of these allegations.

There you have it – ethically challenged government! Two wrongs make a right.

If anything at all positive has come of this it’s that the anarchists might be right that government is not necessary after all.

All jokes aside, Prime Minister Christie’s claim to fame as a nice guy is being tarnished more as each day passes and he does nothing to publicly deal with the allegations.

If it can be proven that they are not true, the public needs to see the proof. Other than that, the course of action is quite obvious. Clear the train cars of the damaged cargo for future generations to see that the right thing was done…not the politically expedient thing.

Win, lose or draw at the polls on election day, a legacy of integrity and ethics is much more important than protecting seats in parliament, in this blogger’s not to humble opinion.

This government needs to get back on track for the sake of the country. And that does not come by keeping a handful of allegedly damaged cargo in the first class section of the train.

I think PM Ingrahm had a chance to do something about this after he spent millions of dollars on the commission’s of enquiry. He did not ! Not one prosecution, not one.Why was this the case, even though they were recommended. He gave the PLP the chance to regroup. They could have been finished off once & for all. I do not understand this move. We must insist, as a country that “Crooked Politicians” are dealt with by the law.

That’s the Bahamian way these days DP.
Employers do not generally press criminal charges against people that steal from their enterprises and politicians do not generally press criminal charges against their colleagues.
We do live in hope that one day the rule of law will prevail over the rule of men.
