How dare you!

by Sidney Sweeting

In an earlier blog, Rick, you were lamenting the fact that you had exhausted every possible avenue in an attempt to get some information from our venerated Minister of Foreign Affairs about our trade figures with China.

Did you not read the recorded verbal exchange in the Tribune between Mr. Wisdom and his permanent secretary during which one of them is reported to have said that the Tribune reporter is too junior to be speaking with Mr. Wisdom?

Did you not take into consideration the fact that you are merely a citizen and you are questioning an exalted  Minister of Government about something which might require a potentially embarrassing answer?

How dare you!

You should be grateful, as we all should, that he is willing to travel the world, with his entourage, so that he can spend our money for us.

You should also be humbled by the fact that they do descend from their lofty heights and assume mortal status at least for a couple of weeks at election time.

At all other times we should be seen and not heard!

Perhaps starting with you and the Tribune we could all learn to "mind our manners" and try to understand that the word democracy does not mean the same to everyone.
