On the front page of today’s Tribune there is an article by Karin Herig which should be read by every Bahamian, especially those who even think that the Government proposed NHI plan will not be a disaster.
The first paragraph of the article states " Thousands of Doctors Hospital’s patients, who are on National Insurance and other insurance plans, will now have to pay for their treatment in full because several government organizations have failed to pay their bills – some for more than $1million."
One member lamented that she had paid into the inssurance for 30 years yet when she needed treatment the funds were not available.
Does anyone think the the proposed NHI plan will be any better?
You are absolutely correct Dr. Sweeting. It may take a few years but there is no doubt where NHI will end up.
The spin from the politicians about this is also sickening. Talk about setting up false expectations.
Milton Friedman once asked something to the effect that “What makes America think it can be good at Socialism. Look how Russia failed at it?”
Likewise, look at the mess Britain,Canada and other countries have made of socialised medicine. What makes us think we can do any better?
