Those of us who blog and write letters to the Press must all have moments when we wonder if we are the only ones who are concerned about the myriad of problems that tax our minds and give us sleepless nights.
Or, do most Bahamians just take the attitude “let’s just let them worry about it.”?
Does anyone else care about the direction our Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking?
Or, that the traffic situation is getting worse by the week – there is no enforcement of traffic laws (speeding, seat belts, illegal parking, tinted windows, running red lights (when they are working!) This list seems endless.
Or, that education in the public schools has gone beyond the crisis stage.
Or, that garbage is becoming a part of the scenery (rotting boats on reclaimed land, rusty cars abandoned on the side of the road, refrigerators thrown into empty lots.)
Does anyone else care that our Government is on a fast track to legislate a National Health Plan, which will turn out to be one of the biggest mistakes this country has ever made, as it will adversely affect their lives and the lives of generations to come. Can it be true that most people are more concerned about the latest gossip in the Punch, which movies are showing this week and whether they still have minutes on their cell phone?
Have we become mostly a nation of docile, apathetic sheep who are content to be led by the nose?
Their silence is truly deafening.
