It has been bothering me since I read the story late last week. China is donating $30,000,000 for a sports stadium.
While this is a nice gesture, nothing in life is free, but we can’t maintain the bathrooms at the ball field, how on earth are we going to maintian a huge sports complex?
Let’s see, how much HIV vaccine can we purchase for $30,000,000? How about food for the poor? What about reducing the national debt?
My wish list can go on and on, but I honestly believe the stadium will be a tragic waste of money. Not to mention the strings that will undoubtedly be attached.
Any bloggers hearing any thing about this?
I am more than just “bothered” about it, it’s almost sickening.
I cannot downplay the importance of sports but if you give any 30 people $30 million to spend to help the country I would like to believe that for most of them a sports stadium would be very low in their list of priorities.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that none of those 30 should be in Government.
There was a line in a comedy show a few years back that said
“It’s not important to feel good, it’s importand to look good.”
Status quo for our government i’m afraid. Very busy making look good speeches and “giving” to the country and its people, but you are right, at what cost?
If crown land, our souls or our freedom is at stake, I worry for our future.
30 million would fix a lot of infrastructure but still wouldn’t fix it all, there is too much broken.
