Judging from comments in the press today, Mr. Leslie Miller, Minister of (Anti) Trade and Industry, is upset with the WTO.
It appears he is upset at the way the WTO treated the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States.
For the record, this is how the business community feels when Mr. Miller threatens to close them down or revoke their licenses etc.
Hey, there’s a thought. Maybe he can just revoke the WTO Charter and everyone’s problems will be over.
Governments do not need to get entagled in the trade process any way, they should simply set the parameters, as they have already done, and move on.
Businesses and individuals trade…not governments.
Ever noticed how volume, attitude and foul language seem to have replaced reason, discussion and justification? This trend has been developing for some time now, so much so that our so called leaders have developed and augmented this new practice. Reality for most of them is whatever illusion they create for themselves, and they cannot understand why we don’t blindly accept whatever they dish out. People acting on my supposed best interest without consulting me make me nervous. Politicians have NOT cornered the market on intelligence! But they do fear those who have some. Again, to fix what ails our country is going to take ALL OF our collective efforts. Politicians only have as much power as we give them….or as much as we allow them to take.
